Ae Dil Hai Mushkil: Surely a commercial success, but will it stay afloat unlike other Ranbir Kapoor movies

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, is certainly a most-awaited movie of the year 2016, and has already everyone swooning to the aura of it. From the teaser launch to first music video release, it has everyone hooked. Thanks to a recent controversy and clash with Ajay Devgn’s upcoming Shivaay, ADHM is getting lime light out of proportion. The movie’s ensemble cast of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma & Fawad Khan has been crafted into a story line directed under the hats of Karan Johar.

The movie looks like a complete formula for commercial success, but it doesn’t come across as something extra-ordinary. What becomes obvious from the teaser and the music video of title track is, Ranbir Kapoor will again be seen as a man pursuing a career in music. Mr. Kapoor has been there and done that in his 2011 musical romantic drama, Rockstar and he didn’t do a great job there trying to save a sinking movie, which had Nargis Fakhri and a storyline which gets as weak as health of Fakhri’s character in that movie.

Talking about Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, the only two refreshing things are two gorgeous and immensely talented actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Fawad Khan. Both of them look promising and it is very evident, that both of them have got roles to play, which are tailored fit for them. By now, you must have heard about Aishwarya playing a middle-aged woman, who shares a certain level of intimacy with Ranbir’s character in the ADHM. Fawad, apart from spilling magic with his on-screen presence, looks like playing a character who will drift the story to a significant conclusion.

There is an uncanny resemblance between Anushka Sharma’s character and the character of Deepika Padukone from Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani. Hopeless in love with Ranbir’s character and then moving to find her own solace. Only this time, it looks like Anushka’s character will be sensible and strong enough to lock doors on Ranbir’s character unlike what happened in YJHD.

Ranbir is not seen doing anything prominently different than what he did in Rockstar and YJHD. Perhaps, breaking out of chains is the best thing he can portray on screen.

There are lot of beautiful things in the music video of title track and appreciating those is of utmost importance. The cinematography of the whole sequence looks really great and is picturesque. Looks like Karan Johar has really gone par with his directorial skills in this feature film. Apart from that, character of Ranbir Kapoor doesn’t come across as a strong one. It looks like a lot of this movie is dependent on other three actors doing there work fine. Also Karan and Ranbir are working again in a movie together, we wonder if it would really lend a ‘velvet’ touch to the movie. (ALSO READ: Ae Dil Hai Mushkil title song video OUT! One thing common between teaser and the music video is one-liners by Ranbir towarads the end. Both the lines versed in the voice of Ranbir, hints at a story line similar to what we have seen in Karan Johar’s Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna. Breaking away from the shackles of hurtful love and narration of whims and moguls of one-sided love or relationships.

As buzz has it, Shah Rukh Khan, will also be doing his bit in the movie, opposite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, playing her husband. It will great to see the pair together on-screen after a long gap. However only for a small part, which somehow suffice the story line.

Though this movie will go on earn huge chunks of money, but we wonder if this will really be able to leave a story to be told for long, after it fades out.
