Born on April 28, 1987, Samantha’s birth name is Samantha Ruth Prabhu.

She has two elder brothers named Jonathan and David.

She completed her graduation in commerce at Stella Maris College, Chennai.

After recovery from her illness, she wanted to support sick people in our society and so Pratyusha Support, an NGO has been started by Samantha in 2012 in the intention of providing medical supplies to women and children.
Her earnings from modeling and product endorsements are donated to the NGO.
She regularly attended the event for awareness of haemophilia disease.
Samantha made an agreement with Andhra government through her NGO to pay a third of the bill towards vaccination for babies under six months for rota viral infections.

She entered the film industry during 2010 through ‘Ye Maaya Chesave’, a Telugu film by Gautham Menon.
Next she played a student of NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology) in Baana Kaathadi, a romantic film in Tamil opposite Adharvaa.
Subsequently she had many releases in Tamil and Telugu like Moscowin Kavery, Brindaavanam, and gained positive reviews for Dookudu (Telugu movie, opposite Mahesh Babu)which was a mass hit.
Her big Telugu project ‘Eega’ which was portrayed in Tamil as ‘Naan Ee’ became her most successful movie and her performance was praised to the core by movie critics.
She started continuously signing up in big budget films after 2013. Her latest hit movie is ‘Thanga Magan’ in Tamil opposite Dhanush.
